Tom first picked up the guitar at age
fifteen and took some private lessons with the local neighborhood teachers. This was
combined with an interest in sitting with recordings, and trying to accurately pick out
the guitar parts. (This interest continues today)!
While
attending Syracuse University, he studied privately with the head of the University Guitar
Department, Carlos Manobianco. Ultimately, Tom held first guitar chair in the Syracuse
University Guitar Ensemble.
Shortly
after graduation, he was fortunate enough to study privately with jazz guitar great: Larry
Coryell.
Tom has
been the lead guitarist in a number of northern New Jersey bands, such as The Boro Boys,
and The Roadrunners.
He has
been teaching the guitar full time for well over 20 years now. A great deal of this
success is due to Tom's understanding of the importance of being a good communicator. The
approach of the guitar lessons is to progress at your own comfortable pace, in a relaxed
atmosphere, yet to consistently feel a sense of accomplishment and improvement.
